Beady Eye Play in Front of Japanese Flag to Raise Money for Japan

The Rock Group, Beady Eye played tonight (3rd April) at the 02 in Brixton in London. They appeared in concert at the Japan Disaster Benefit, this was in aid of the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.

The disaster benefit concert has already raised over £150,000 for the British Red Cross charity. Beady Eye closed their set with 'Across The Universe' by The Beatles played in front of the Japanese flag.

Japanese Flag - Seven Countries Skyscraper Towers to Light Up Red and White

The Sky Tower, Auckland, New Zealand - Will be the first tower to light up

Eight Skyscrapers from seven countries are to show solidarity and pay respects to Japan in a special event on Monday 4th April, 2011. Eight skyscrapers have agreed to light-up in the colors of the Japanese Flag (Red and White). Each of the towers will illuminate in the red and white colors from sundown in their respective countries.

Japan has been rocked in the past month with an earthquake which has lead to a Tsunami and a near nuclear meltdown. Repairs following the earthquake are estimated at $300 Billion, or 6% of the annual Gross Domestic Produce of Japan.

The event was initiated by the owners of New York's Empire State Building. Anothony Malkin a Spokesperson for the New York Empire State Building Company said "On April 4, the Empire State Building tower lights will shine for Japan which is desperately in need of the world's support and financial assistance. We are proud that buildings around the globe have agreed to join our efforts to raise awareness for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan."

10,000+ Indonesians Support Japan Tsunami Victims

An amazing 10,000+ Indonesians have supported Japanese Tsunami victims through the creation of a giant Japanese Flag.

Inventively, the flag has been created by the palm prints of the Indonesian well-wishers. A giant whiteboard was erected outside the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta on Sunday. Vistiors then dipped their hands in red dye and eventually thousands of people later the Japanese Flag was created.


Many celebrities such as the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Kojiro Shiojiri, contributed, as well as Indonesian humanitarian activists, such as the famous Kuntoro Mangkusobroto.

When completed the flag was handed over to the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, as a sign of goodwill. Receiving the flag, the Ambassador Kojiro Shiojori said "Thank you very much, I appreciate it very much, I am very moved and excited by your support, and I will transmit your message to our people in Japan straight away. Thank you very much.”

In what was a great act, it is good to see the people of Japan and Indonesia working together in this way.

Turkish support for Japan - both flags waved from Air Balloons

A heart warming story has emerged out of Turkey following the devastating Tsunami in Japan.

Hot air balloons flying over the tourist area of Cappadocia, Turkey are a very popular tourist attraction. On Sunday 27th March, a number of hot air balloons flew the Turkish Flag and Japanese Flag in support of victims for the Tsunami.











The balloons opened a giant poster which read Your pain is our pain". This strapline was available in English, Japanese and Turkish.

Hot air balloon tours are popular in Turkey's Cappadocia region. These flights allow visitors to view the “fairy chimney” rock formations indigenous to the area.
